Governor Ducey today announced that gyms can reopen with reduced capacity Wednesday, May 13. This is great news for all of us….but….we need more than 24 hours to make sure we have the gym set up for all of our safety!
We will reopen the gyms…both Scottsdale and Chandler….on Monday, May 18.
This opening date will allow us to ensure we have the proper PPE, safety and cleaning procedures in place, and that we can appropriately enforce the guidelines set forth by the CDC and local authorities.
We are very excited to reopen…we’ve missed all of you very much and can’t wait to get you all back in here! We anticipate that some of you MAY have gotten out of your workout routine while you were away. If you’d like some help getting rebooted, please schedule a fitness consultation with Brett. His schedule will fill up quickly, so don’t wait!
When we reopen, things will have to work a little differently with new safety guidelines. Here are answers to a few anticipated questions to help us all get back into a groove successfully!
What does “reduced capacity” mean for your gym?
We reviewed our usage for the past 6 months. We rarely average more than 10 members in the gym during any given hour. This means we will very likely never more than 10 people in the gym at a given time. We will still be monitoring usage and if we start to see spikes, we will begin leveraging a capacity management solution that would limit the number of people allowed in the gym at a time.
Will you still be open 24 hours?
Yes we will! We will be staffed during our busiest times, but not during the off hours. We have very limited usage later at night and throughout the early morning, so the risk is minimal and we know our late night and earlier morning members will appreciate it!
Do I have to wear a mask or other PPE?
PPE is not required, but it is recommended to be worn by members.
Will the staff be wearing PPE?
Staff will be wearing masks.
Are there any new procedures members will have to follow?
Yes. Following is a list of new (or renewed) requirements. All MUST be followed.
- Use hand sanitizer when entering gym
- Wash hands for 20 seconds after restroom use
- Maintain a distance of 6 feet from other members to observe social distancing guidelines
- Wipe down equipment after every use with a disinfectant wipe
- We are implementing a NO GUEST policy until further notice. Only registered members with a working key will be allowed in the gym. This includes day and week passes and 7 day trials.
- Members MAY NOT let other members in the gym. Every member must swipe their own key to enter (sorry – no exceptions).
Will you have enhanced cleaning procedures?
We will! Staff will be on the floor regularly cleaning every day. We have also hired a commercial cleaning company to do regular deep cleaning. While these measures will go a long way, we ask that our members continue cleaning equipment after every use like you have been! Working together, this will remain the cleanest gym in the area!
Can I bring a guest to the gym?
We covered this one before, but it’s important enough to cover again. During this time, we want to make sure our members are getting the best experience we can provide. As such, we will be suspending all guests, trials, and short term passes to provide the safest environment and to ensure we have the capacity saved for our members.
Will you be enforcing social distancing in the gym?
Yes…and we’ll need your help. We’ll monitor this while we’re here and will be “policing” the floor, but we ask that everyone do their part and maintain a safe distance. We will space the equipment accordingly, and will block off some cardio machines to ensure a safe distance can be maintained.
Are you taking new members as this time?
Yes we are! And we would especially love to help out your friends and family members that may need a kick start after being stuck at home for a couple of months! We feel people will need a smaller, less crowded gym that can effectively observe safety precautions required by this crisis.
We can’t wait to see all of you very soon! Stay safe and let’s get back to work!
